How to paint a garage door
February 5, 2020 By Paul Peck
Your garage door is a HUGE part of the overall appearance of your home. Has your homes garage door lost it's luster? Is my garage door paintable? It's a common question among homeowners that have a weathered, rusted, chalky, faded or dusty garage door that's in need of a facelift or even just a color change that can give your home a different vibe and better curb appeal . Whether you're thinking about just repainting it or looking to paint the entire exterior of your home. I would recommend hiring a professional painting contractor. But painting a garage door is doable for the advanced DIY'er. I give this project a difficulty rating of 7 out of 10. You can get by with just using a brush and roller to paint most garage doors. But with these you will be left with some sort of stippling (a light texture or brush strokes). That's why I prefer to use an airless sprayer to apply … [Read More...]
Roof leak caused major water damage to this ceiling in Suntree, Fl
September 6, 2019 By Paul Peck
With all of the rain we've been getting here in Brevard County this Summer, it's no doubt that there are many homes that have had a roof leak. Which leads to potential water damage on ceilings and walls. What's worse is if the roof leak continues, all of the moisture can lead to wood rot and is the perfect food source termites in any wood framing, furring strips, roof trusses and roof decking. Even if you have a block home, wood is most likely part of your roofing system and possibly in your wall framing in order to be able to attach the drywall to a block wall when your home was built. Roof Leak? The best piece of advice I can give you is when looking for a contractor to repair your roof, ceiling or drywall be sure to hire a licensed contractor to get the best results! This blog post is about a water damaged pool patio ceiling caused by a roof leak in the suntree … [Read More...]
Barry the cable guy stepped thru my popcorn ceiling!
May 30, 2019 By Paul Peck
One of my customers recently got more than cable tv and wireless internet, when Barry the cable guy went to run a couple new cables. Barry accidently stepped on the drywall ceiling from the backside while maneuvering across the trusses up in the attic over the living room hall. Mr. Jones said he heard a very loud Crunch and Thud. When he went to see what had happened, Barry's leg was hanging out of the popcorn ceiling! Drywall and insulation was all over the floor. Thankfully Barry was not injured. This is where I come into the picture. Mr. Jones sent an estimate request through my website which went to my phone. After speaking with Mr. Jones, I went out to have a look and secure the drywall ceiling. Once the cable company ok'd the estimate, I went back and repaired the attic step thru and re-sprayed a popcorn texture blending it into the existing popcorn ceiling. Here's a few of … [Read More...]
Vaulted Ceiling Tape Joint Repair-Knockdown Texture Sponge
March 20, 2016 By Paul Peck
In this video blog I'll be demonstrating how to apply an all purpose joint compound with my Knockdown Texture Sponge on a vaulted ceiling repair. The ceiling repair is the entire 36' paper tape joint right at the vault of the open plan ceiling. Over time a lot of homes vaulted tape joints end up separating due to a few different factors: 1) These type of ceilings are exposed to excessive heat because of how close the vaulted ceiling is to the actual roof. 2) Sometimes when the drywall was installed at the vaulted ceiling the drywall hangers leave to big of a gap at the vault. 3) Another common mistake during the construction phase of when the drywall ceiling was initially installed without using the correct amount of fasteners which lead to the ceiling sagging over time and popping the tape joint at the vaulted ceiling. 4) Other times there is no framing member to attach to … [Read More...]

The prices at Peck Drywall and Painting are very reasonable. I'm kind of picky but I would give them A's.
I have a stucco home that needed painting and some minor stucco repair. Paul Peck came out to give an estimate in person at my earliest convenience and was very knowledgable and professional. His estimate was competitive with the four other estimates I received and he was able to start the job within a short period of time. He was present each day and his crew is very skilled and courteous. They worked around inclement weather and kept me informed of any issues or schedule adjustments. I am absolutely delighted with the finished result and would not hesitate to recommend this company to other Angie's List members.
Called Pecks right before selling my home. House was 2 years old and had some stucco cracks and fading on outside and picture holes in wall on inside. Got an estimate fast, it was a good price to do everything I wanted and the house looks better than it did when I bought it new once Paul was done. Definitely highly recommend if you need any drywall, painting or repair work completed
Member Comments: The job went very well except for a few delays due to weather. Peck arrived as scheduled and began with a pressure cleaning of the entire house and also pulling the soil back from around the bottom edge of the house to allow for paint application down to the ground level. A 6 foot verticle section of rotted wood trim board was replaced at one of the house corners. A piece of trim board was also added around a window. Both of these trim pieces were installed very well and blended in perfectly with the existing wood trim.
Three coats of paint were applied to the entire house; a sealer coat then 2 top coats. The paint came out beautifully with fine attention to detail. The work site was cleaned up every day.
I want to express my great appreciation for a job very well done when you and your team fixed the badly damaged popcorn ceiling of my condo in Cocoa Beach. I am impressed with the perfection of the job, the professionalism of your team and the great price of the work. Your work is totally consistent with the advertising in your webpage. Definitely, I will call you for my future projects.
"I Highly Recommend Your Company “Peck Drywall & Painting”
