Cape Canaveral, FL | Water Damaged Popcorn Ceiling From Tropical Storm Debby

Here’s a repair I did on a water damaged popcorn ceiling at a condominum complex that I have the contract to do all of their drywall and painting work in Cape Canaveral, FL. The water damage was caused by a roof leak during Tropical Storm Debby.

Water Damaged Popcorn Ceiling:

 

Water damaged area cut out and new drywall installed.

Ceiling repair taped, mudded and skim coated.

 

New popcorn texture applied and feathered out to blend into existing popcorn texture on the ceiling.

Cocoa Beach Popcorn Ceiling is Falling Down!

The sprayed on popcorn texture (also known as acoustical ceiling texture) was falling off of this Cocoa Beach condo’s ceiling. Of course right smack in the middle of the ceiling in the main livingroom. That just so happen to have one of the best views of the Banana River that Cocoa Beach has to offer.

Right when I looked at this ceiling I knew that a tape joint had been previously repaired at one of the drywall seams. My guess would be that when this popcorn ceiling had been repaired before. The contractors didn’t prime the dusty surface after removing the old tape joint and scraping back the popcorn texture at the repair to be able to re secure and re mud the new drywall taping and mudding areas..

Dust surfaces are not the ideal area to try and do drywall finishing on. These types of ceiling repairs will surely fail if the proper preparations are not done at the beginning of a popcorn ceiling repair project or any type of ceiling repair or drywall repair for that matter…

This popcorn ceiling even had the silver glitter on it. I’ve been in the drywall trades long enough to have glitter gun from back in the early 1990’s when it was the latest and greatest new ceiling texture with glitter.

What to do with my old kitchen drop ceiling lighting?

It’s a common dilemma among home and condo owners that I’m sure most of you have seen before.

That Ugly, outdated grid lighting system in the kitchen of a Home!

Whether you’re thinking about doing a new kitchen remodel or your just looking to modernize and open up your kitchens feel and get rid of that outdated kitchen drop ceiling and kitchen lights.
This process that I developed many years ago will turn any of these eyesore ceilings into a show piece that you will love and your neighbors will envy. I’ve installed close to one hundred of these types of trey ceilings here in the Brevard County area over the years.

Makes the kitchen feel bigger already.

Concrete ceiling exposed.

After the Kitchen drop ceiling and lighting is removed. It’s time for a little drywall repair and mud work:

After the drywall was repaired, It was time to apply a new and more modern texture called Skip Trowel:

After the Skip Trowel was applied we added crown molding around the perimeter of the new kitchen trey ceiling:

Ceiling primed and painted with two coats of Sherwin Williams Super Paint semi-gloss extra white:

☆Exterior Painting Melbourne Florida/ Stucco cracks,dingy soffitts and iron stains ☆

This Project blog post is about an exterior repaint that went from drab to WoW!

After we pressure washed the exterior of this Melbourne home, we repaired all of the staircase stucco cracks, treated the iron stains, applied a masonry sealer/bonder to ensure good adhesion. Then we a applied two coats of Sherwin Williams A100 satin exterior paint on all of the stucco walls, bands, columns, soffits, facia, gutters, downspouts, back patio deck and patio ceilings.
