Vaulted Ceiling Tape Joint Repair-Knockdown Texture Sponge
In this video blog I'll be demonstrating how to apply an all purpose joint compound with my Knockdown Texture Sponge on a vaulted ceiling repair. The ceiling repair is the entire 36' paper tape joint right at the vault of the open plan ceiling. Over time a lot of homes vaulted tape joints end up separating due to a few different factors: 1) These type of ceilings are exposed to excessive heat because of how close the vaulted ceiling is to the actual roof. 2) Sometimes when the drywall was installed at the vaulted ceiling the drywall hangers leave to big of a gap at the vault. 3) Another common mistake during the construction phase of when the drywall ceiling was initially installed without using the correct amount of fasteners which lead to the ceiling sagging over time and popping the tape joint at the vaulted ceiling. 4) Other times there is no framing member to attach to … [Read More...]
Knockdown textured ceiling bubbling while painting lanai in Rockledge, Fl.
Textured patio ceiling bubbling, blistered or falling down? I've seen this issue quite a few times over the years on knockdown, skip trowel, orange peel and popcorn textured exterior drywall ceilings. In this video I'm scraping the areas where the knockdown texture and paint had bubbled. So today while on an complete exterior repaint in Rockledge, Fl. I was painting the first coat of exterior latex paint on the lanai ceiling, when the knockdown texture on the exterior drywall pool patio ceiling started to come off on to my roller nap. The ceiling texture had bubbled in two separate areas. It was as if the texture itself had lost any adhesion and all that was left after peeling the texture off was bare drywall which was dusty just like the back of the texture sheet that I removed. How to spray popcorn ceiling texture on a drywall ceiling repair
On this popcorn ceiling repair project, I'll demonstrate how to spray and blend popcorn ceiling texture on an actual ceiling repair that had water damage from a roof leak in Merritt Island, Florida. I'll be using my GoPro while shooting the video. Exterior Painting a short sale home in Palm Bay, Fl
I just finished up this interior and exterior painting project in Palm Bay , Fl. The house was just purchased in a short sale due to foreclosure. The home was 1800 sq.ft with a stucco finish. After pressure washing this Palm Bay home, we repaired all of the staircase stucco cracks, applied a tinted primer to ensure good adhesion, and then applied two coats of Richards Signature Series- satin exterior paint. We also painted the garage floor with an epoxy garage floor paint. Barry the cable guy stepped thru my popcorn ceiling!
One of my customers recently got more than cable tv and wireless internet, when Barry the cable guy went to run a couple new cables. Barry accidently stepped on the drywall ceiling from the backside while maneuvering across the trusses up in the attic over the living room hall. Mr. Jones said he heard a very loud Crunch and Thud. When he went to see what had happened, Barry's leg was hanging out of the popcorn ceiling! Drywall and insulation was all over the floor. Thankfully Barry was not injured. This is where I come into the picture. Mr. Jones sent an estimate request through my website which went to my phone. Chinese Drywall Inspection Confirms Toxic Chinese Drywall in Palm Bay
Chinese Drywall confirmed in a Palm Bay, FL neighborhood Toxic Chinese Drywall I was called out to do a Chinese drywall inspection on a home that was built in 2006. This beautiful home was located in a gated community neighborhood in the Melbourne / Palm Bay area on the Space Coast of Florida. The concerning thing is that this paticular home was the model home when this entire was in the construction phase. So this mean that the whole neighbor hood could potentially have the toxic Chinese Drywall! Water had got behind that decorative stucco piece and rusted out the wire lathe. Which ultimately caused the stucco to fail in that area.
